Flanges for Texas projects: Houston, the Gulf Coast and the Permian
Texas produces more oil and gas than any other state and holds about a third of US refining capacity, and Houston is where much of that piping is engineered and bought. Here is what Texas projects specify and how our flanges reach them.

We supply forged ASME B16.5 and B16.47 flanges to Texas projects in oil and gas, refining, petrochemical, LNG, power, water and data centers, in A105, A350 LF2, A694 high yield, stainless and duplex grades, Class 150 to 2500, with an EN 10204 3.1 mill test report for every heat. Orders ship from our works in India to Port Houston or the Texas port you name, and on to site by truck. We have no US office or warehouse; every line is supplied to your line list.
Texas industries and what they specify
According to the US Energy Information Administration, Texas produced more than two-fifths of US crude oil in 2024 and 28% of US natural gas gross withdrawals, and its 35 refineries hold about one-third of US refining capacity, 6.3 million barrels per calendar day. That makes most Texas line lists oil and gas or process piping.
| Industry and region | Usual flanges | Grades |
|---|---|---|
| Upstream and midstream: Permian Basin, Eagle Ford | Weld neck, blind and RTJ, Class 300 to 1500; pipeline flanges matched to line pipe | A105, A350 LF2, A694 F52 to F70 |
| Refining: Houston Ship Channel, Beaumont and Port Arthur, Corpus Christi | Weld neck, RTJ, orifice flanges, spectacle blinds | A105, LF2, 316L, 321, 347 |
| Petrochemical and chemical plants along the Gulf Coast | Weld neck, lap joint with stub ends | A105, 316L, duplex |
| LNG export terminals: Freeport, Corpus Christi and others under construction | Weld neck and RTJ on gas treating and utility piping | A105, A350 LF2, 304L, 316L |
| Power plants and water utilities statewide | Weld neck, slip-on, flat face; AWWA on large water mains | A105, stainless, AWWA C207 |
| Data centers: Dallas-Fort Worth, San Antonio, Austin | Class 150 weld neck and slip-on; stainless for liquid cooling | A105, 304L, 316L |
Industry pages cover each in more detail: oil and gas, refining and petrochemical, chemical processing, power generation and water and wastewater.
High pressure and ring type joints
Gathering systems, compressor stations and refinery high pressure units in Texas run well above Class 150. Line lists from Houston engineering firms often call for Class 600 to 2500 weld neck flanges with ring type joint facing, A694 high yield flanges bored to match API 5L line pipe on pipelines, and orifice flanges at every custody transfer and allocation meter. See high pressure flanges, RTJ flanges and orifice flanges.
Winter weather
The February 2021 winter storm showed that outdoor piping across Texas can see hard freezes. ASME B16.5 rates A105 carbon steel flanges down to -20 °F, which covers ambient lows across most of the state; the colder risk on process plants is often the design metal temperature of lines that chill when gas expands, such as blowdown and flare headers. Where the design minimum is below -20 °F, specify A350 LF2, which is Charpy impact tested at -50 °F.
Getting flanges to a Texas site
Port Houston is the usual gateway, and the Houston area has the customs brokers, forwarders and trucking that Gulf Coast projects already use. Corpus Christi and Freeport serve projects further south and west. We quote FOB India, CIF Port Houston or another Incoterm you name. Every flange is die stamped with its country of origin, and the shipment carries mill test reports, PMI records, the packing list by line item and the commercial invoice. Ordering from India covers each step.
Industry figures are from the US Energy Information Administration's Texas profile. Places and terminals are named to describe the market; naming them does not mean they are RIC customers.
Frequently asked questions
Do you have a warehouse in Houston?
No. We have no US office or warehouse. Every order is supplied to your line list from our works in Gujarat, India, and shipped to Port Houston or the port or address you name.
Which flange grade suits outdoor lines in Texas?
A105 for most lines: ASME B16.5 rates it down to -20 °F. Where the design minimum metal temperature is lower, for example on blowdown or flare lines that chill as gas expands, specifications call for A350 LF2, impact tested at -50 °F.
Can a Houston inspection company witness the tests?
Third-party inspection takes place at our works in India before shipment. Name your agency, or one with an office in India, on the order and we arrange the inspection and the EN 10204 3.2 certificate with them.
Do you supply data center projects in Texas too?
Yes. Dallas-Fort Worth, San Antonio and Austin are large data center markets, and our Dallas-Fort Worth page covers the flange specification for their cooling plants.
